The Institute of Waste Management of Southern Africa (IWMSA) is proud to host Accredited Waste Management Training in August.  

This training will provide an exciting opportunity to share critical thoughts relating to the latest trends in separating, handling, storing, treating and transporting waste.

The IWMSA Accredited Waste Management Training will be of great interest to all waste industry individuals and organisations. This session is a must for delegates to contribute to the development of effective waste and environmental management practices.

We encourage all members and non-members who operate in the environmental and waste management fields to attend this training.

Please note that the course will only take place if we have a minimum of ten delegates.

Course Logistics

  • Face-to-face training will take place on 28 to 29 August 2018
  • Summative Assessments will be done on the afternoon 29 August 2018
  • Training times: 08:00 to 16:00 daily
  • A light lunch will be served

Purpose of the course

In order to perform effectively in the field of environmental science, environmental management and waste management, the leaner will be able to:

  • Classify, separate, treat, store and transport waste safely, responsibly and in compliance with legislation;
  • Control and monitor access to a waste handling facility.

The learner  will also know and understand:

  • Principles and concepts related to waste management and their application in practice.
  • Methods of handling and transporting waste.

Learner can be assessed against this unit standard in the context of any activity which is related to managing environmental issues, such as:
The skill, the knowledge and the values reflected in this unit standard form part of the exit level outcomes required for the National Certificate in Environmental Practice NQF Level.

Candidates will receive the following:

  • All training materials and portfolio documentation required by LGSETA.
  • Training manual.
  • Lunch on the training days, including non-alcoholic drinks.
  • Certificate of Competency - once declared competent, subject to final verification.
  • Uploading of learner details on the National Learner Record Database (SAQA).
  • Professional and Qualified Trainer/s and Assessor/s (Registered with LGSETA).
